The church of Lugon appears in 1170 as a dependency of the abbey of Guîtres. A church located on Carney Island is also mentioned at this time. It would have been engulfed by a strong tide, then rebuilt and used as an agricultural building, now disappeared. The small rubble stones arranged as a bed on the base of the southern wall are the only remains of the early Romanesque church. In the 1836th century, the apse was built, as well as a portal decorated with a carved tympanum, and the nave was enlarged. The apse was fortified in the XNUMXth century. In XNUMX, the old bell tower, located to the south, was replaced by a new one, placed to the west of the nave.
