The village is occupied from the Gallo-Roman era, from which sherds and tools have been found. Like Mouillac, Tarnès being small, it feared for a long time to be attached to neighboring municipalities.

The church of St Martin de Tarnès was built in three campaigns, during the XNUMXth, XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries.

Its XNUMXth century stone tabernacle, as well as the altarpiece and the pulpit, form a homogeneous whole.
