To date, no archaeological evidence prior to medieval times has been found, despite the origin of the Gallo-Roman name. The first parish must have been formed relatively early and cover an important area. During the Middle Ages, several lords succeeded one another: the viscount of Fronsac, the lord of Pommiers (Vérac) and the commander of Caynac. Today, the main activity of the town is viticulture, with the cooperative cellar of Vignerons de Tutiac, receiving up to 20 hectoliters of wine.

The Monument to the Glory of the Heroes of Sidi-Brahimde was erected in Oran in 1898, to commemorate the bravery of the soldiers in Algeria during the fight fought on September 24, 1845 by the hunters against the troops of Emir Abd El-Kader. It had the form of a slender obelisk, carrying at its top a glory offering the palm of martyrdom. On the plinth, a France holding a flag was kneeling. After the independence of Algeria in 1962 arises the problem of the conservation and safeguard of this monument. The bronze trophies are recoverable and then transferred to Périssac on September 27, 1963, the birthplace of Captain Oscar de Géreaux who died a hero in combat, and the town is launching a call for tenders for the creation of a monument that would carry these trophies. The final work was inaugurated on July 10, 1966.
