During the late Middle Ages, the heavily wooded countryside was cleared (in the XNUMXth century), which allowed the habitat to settle. The village has developed over the centuries a wine vocation. At the beginning of the XNUMXth century, the mayor and his advisor obtained that Saint-Genès-de-Queil be henceforth called Saint-Genès de Fronsac, which better situates the village and allows its wines to be promoted.
The Saint Genès church was built in stone during the XNUMXth, XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries.
A painting of St Bartholomew from 1788 sits above the altar.
