In La Lande-de-Fronsac, the time of cathedrals and anonymous builders has returned. After several years of research and steps to purchase this 3-hectare plot of land, the medieval Guyenne construction site opened its doors to the public on July 6, 2024. The association, made up of lovers of French crafts and chaired by Valéry Ossent , has a crazy project: to build several buildings inspired by religious monuments with the materials, tools and means of the period.
Within 40 years, a chapel, a cathedral and a cloister should rise at the entrance to the Gironde village. Objectives: to nourish people in search of meaning, to preserve and rediscover medieval artisanal know-how, to construct, before the eyes of visitors, buildings inspired by the Middle Ages, using the techniques of the builders of the time.
